Mylenn Bristal is on bottom. (She looks exactly like her daddy.)
I can't wait to see their little personalities start to take form in the next few months.
This week Soryn & Mylenn really got to know their peditrician. We saw him Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday. Seeing that they were born at only 35 weeks and 4 days gestation which translates to they are preemies he wanted to keep a very close eye on their weights. Well, they were doing really well until we had a slight "hiccup" on Thursday. As I was at my doctor getting my staples removed, Matt, my Mom and the girls went to the peds to get weighed. Well, they had lost a little bit of weight so he put them on straight formula every two hours. (Which makes for some very LONG nights.) I was breastfeeding then supplementing with formula, but for preemies and really any newborn, breastfeeding is ALOT of work. It just burns up too many calories. So instead we just bottle feed them formula and I am continuing to pump so that I can build up my supply. Breastfeeding twins takes a lot of "supply."
But the good news is that when we went back to the doctors on Friday, Soryn had gained an ounce and Mylenn had gained 1.15 ounces.
The doctor said whatever ya'll were doing worked so keep it up. He wants us to go back on Monday to make sure they didn't lose any over the weekend.
Some other interesting things I am learning about this whole post-pregnancy thing is that:
1. I am so emotional it is just plain SCARY!! They said this would happen, but I am usually a very happy-go-lucky girl. But I find myself crying at the drop of a hat. I was watching the evening news and a story about military families came on and just broke down. I haven't cried this much since puberty. Wow!! Hormones are on a roller coaster right now. How come guys don't have to go through this??? But I will say that Matthew is just being the best dad EVER!! Not only is he taking wonderful care of the girls, but he is also taking care of me.
2. I have never had a really great stomach, but I have always some stomach muscles. I have discovered that when I laugh my belly "jiggles like a bowl full of jelly." I am anxious to get back to running, but it might be a while. Matt and I went for a walk last night and I didn't make it too far. My incision is still bothering me.
Well, I have now written a book. But I wanted to post individual pictures of the girls so that everyone can see the difference.
'Til next time~
